The Marion B. Sewer Distinguished Scholarship for Undergraduates 2023 is available to students pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry or Molecular Biology. This grant is offered by the American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (ASBMB) and is worth up to $2,000 in tuition. This scholarship is available to US citizens.
The ASBMB is giving the Marion B. Sewer Distinguished Scholarship for Undergraduates to students who want to promote the diversity of science by studying biochemistry and molecular biology.
Eligibility Criteria for Marion B. Sewer Distinguished Scholarships for Undergraduates 2023:
- Candidates applying for Marion B. Sewer Distinguished Scholarship for Undergraduates must either be citizens/nationals or permanent residents of the U.S.
- Candidates with DACA status can also apply.
- International students currently residing in the U.S. on a visa are ineligible.
- Applicants must be enrolled or received acceptance for enrollment as full-time students at any two-year or four-year accredited institutions located in the U.S. or its territories.
- Candidates must be members of ASBMB at the time of application.
- Scholarship holders can apply for other scholarships in the following years.

- Academic transcript
- Statement in maximum 2 pages describing significant social, economic, educational, and cultural barriers faced by the applicant in pursuit of their education
- Statement in not more than 2 pages explaining their commitment to diversity in the past and how they plan to increase diversity on campus and in the scientific community as a whole
- Statement in maximum 2 pages describing research experience and career goals
